William Paterson University’s WPSC-FM Brave New radio at 88.7 FM has been nominated by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System for the title of Best College Radio Station in the U.S. (among institutions with more than 10,000 students), making it the seventh time in eight years that it has been nominated for the same award. WPSC-FM was named Best College Radio Station by IBS in 2012, 2013, 2017, and 2018.

The University’s television station, WPTV-6, is nominated for Best College TV Station as well as being nominated for awards in six other categories. IBS began offering video/TV awards in 2017.

“I am absolutely delighted that our students are being recognized once again for their hard work and dedication at the radio station,” says WPSC-FM general manager Rob Quicke, professor of communication. “My sincere congratulations to all everyone involved in developing our excellent programming.”

"It is a huge honor for WPTV to be nominated for Best College TV Station” says Jamsheed Akrami, professor of communication and director of the William Paterson Broadcast Network (WPBN,) a committee that oversees TV programming. “The television shows are entirely student-produced and reflect our students’ tremendous enthusiasm and creativity.”

“These nominations are a testament to the efforts that faculty, staff and the administration made when the TV studios were redesigned and upgraded to industry standards in 2013,” adds Al Clarke, WPTV-6 television studio manager and adjunct professor of communication. “We look forward to continuing to support students who are able to successfully compete in the No. 1 media market in the country.
