INFORMATION FOR
Faculty and staff are encouraged to focus on their health and well-being during the University’s fifth annual fall Wellness Day on Thursday, October 22.
The full day of programming, which runs in person on campus from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., coincides with the William Paterson’s two-day Wellness Days break for students, scheduled this year for October 22 and 23. There are no assignments or classes scheduled for those days, and faculty and staff are asked to avoid scheduling meetings for October 22 so that everyone can attend the day’s events.
"William Paterson University recognizes that a healthy campus begins with healthy people, and we are excited to support initiatives that promote the well-being of both our employees and students,” says Jill Guzman, the University’s inaugural chief wellness officer. “In my clinical practice, I have often said, ‘When you are well, you do well.’ Wellness Day provides an opportunity for faculty and staff to invest in themselves, connect with colleagues, and engage in practices that enhance their overall well-being. By prioritizing our own wellness, we are better prepared to support our students and role model the importance of healthy living. I encourage everyone to participate on October 22 and join us as we continue building a culture of well-being across our campus.”
The day will open with a keynote address by Nicole Carline of Global Wellbeing Group, who will share inspiring insights into workplace well-being, burnout prevention, and strategies for maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
A range of on-campus, in person wellness activities will include yoga, meditation, Tai Chi, Bollywood dance lessons, golf lessons, and other engaging physical activities. An interactive health fair, featuring health screenings, nutrition resources, wellness information, and practical tips to support overall well-being, will run from noon to 3:00 p.m. Flu shots will be available. A complimentary box lunch will be available for faculty and staff who visit the health fair.
"Wellness is not a destination but an ongoing commitment,” adds Guzman. “I am excited to see our campus community come together for Wellness Day and to continue expanding opportunities that support the health, resilience, and well-being of our employees throughout the year."
A detailed schedule of events with a link for registration will be shared with the campus community soon.
