William Paterson University to Present Peter and the Wolf, a Musical for Children on March 6

“Peter and the Wolf,” a musical for children by the Pushcart Players, will be presented on March 6 in Shea Center for Performing Arts at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ.  The performance is part of NJ Theatre Alliance presents Family Week at the Theatre.

 The performance will be held on Saturday, March 6, at 2 p.m. Free pre-show activities, including arts and crafts related to the theme of the show begin at 1:15 p.m., and there is a post-show session to meet the actors and get their autographs. Parents are invited to bring their cameras. Tickets are $9 for adults; children are admitted free.

"Peter and the Wolf" is an adaptation of the traditional Russian folktale set to music by Sergei Prokofiev. While providing an introduction to the world of music and musical instruments, this enchanting tale is all about the adventure of growing up. Danger becomes reality and creative innovation becomes essential as young Peter meets the challenge of survival in the outside world.

The Pushcart Players are an award-winning professional theatre and arts-in-education company. Pushcart Players is currently celebrating its 35th season of stirring up serious fun - not only throughout most of the U.S., but also in the former Soviet Union, the Czech Republic and in two guest appearances at the White House. The dynamic company is the recipient of an Emmy nomination for two prime-time specials on WCBS-TV, and numerous awards for excellence and innovation in the development of theatre for young audiences.

This musical event is part of William Paterson’s Vistas Series Family and School Scene program.
