A conference designed to bring the latest research and information to educators of P-12 students with learning and developmental disabilities will be held at William Paterson University on Thursday, January 13.
AccessAbilities 2011, designed for classroom teachers, special education teachers, speech language therapists, administrators and parents, addresses the needs for teachers of learning disabled students to enhance their students’ mastery of general education and functional goals through the use of technology.
The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the University’s building at 1600 Valley Road. Admission is $115 and includes all materials. Participants can earn five professional development hours and will receive a certificate.
David Marra from Apple will deliver the keynote address, “Apple and Accessibility—Making Technology Available to all Learners.” He will discuss the ways Apple is making technology available to all learners as part of its ongoing commitment to accessibility.
Featured presentations include workshops which run concurrently during the morning and afternoon. Topics include classroom ergonomics for the special education teacher, assistive technology to support reading, teaching children resilience as learning tool, innovative uses for digital pen technology, and using the iPod as a learning tool.
