INFORMATION FOR
Harry and Rosemary Wong, prominent teachers and lecturers, discuss common-sense strategies for new teachers during a conference entitled “The First Days of School,” on Tuesday, January 11 from 9 a.m. to noon in Shea Center for Performing Arts on the campus of William Paterson University. Admission is $10.
The conference is based on Harry Wong’s popular book, The First Days of School, and features common-sense, research-based, non-controversial basic information, along with techniques used by effective teachers. The book is considered a primer for teachers nationwide.
The lecture is sponsored by the University’s five-year $10.8 million grant, Garden State Partnership for Teacher Quality, awarded by the U.S. Department of Education. It seeks to improve the academic achievement of kindergarten to high school students in high-need urban schools through the recruitment, preparation, and retention of highly qualified teachers in New Jersey.
