INFORMATION FOR
William Paterson University Cotsakos College of Business students Vincent Brevard of Rahway, a junior marketing major, and Kelly Tacore of Pennsauken, a sophomore finance major, were two of only 24 students nationwide who were selected to attend the SIFE 2011 Partner Summit held February 8 and 9 in New York City.
SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) is a business network that mobilizes university students to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to become socially responsible leaders.
Brevard and Tacore are active members in the University’s Cotsakos College of Business campus chapter of SIFE. Brevard, club president, says they have several projects underway. For one project, they obtained a corporate grant that will finance improvements, such as replacing old computers, at an after-school program in Paterson. They also launched a financial literacy program at two Paterson charter high schools to teach students the basics of budgeting.
At the two-day SIFE summit, the students had the opportunity to discuss their community projects with a panel of corporate executives, and obtain their advice. Senior executives from Campbell Soup, Coca-Cola, Hershey, KPMG, Wells Fargo, Time Warner, and Unilever, a company already working with William Paterson’s SIFE chapter, were among the participants. Events included presentations and roundtable discussions on innovation, ethics, and philanthropy.
