Abdoulaye Diabate and Super Manden to Perform at William Paterson University on March 25


Abdoulaye Diabate and Super Manden

Abdoulaye Diabate and Super Manden, a New York City-based West African music ensemble, will perform on Friday, March 25 at 8 p.m. at Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus at William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J.

Super Manden is a collective of musicians and music educators from Mali and Guinea, the creation of lead singer and guitarist Abdoulaye Diabate. His passionate voice combined with overflowing energy tell West African tales that recount histories, genealogy and praise to patrons. The ensemble explores musical territories that are dedicated to the performance and teaching of the Malinke oral tradition of Central West Africa known as Jaliya.

The event is part of William Paterson’s Shea Center Presents Vistas Series, designed to serve the University’s students and faculty as well as the surrounding multicultural community and is also part of the second annual Cross-Cultural Festival. Funding for the Vistas Series at William Paterson University has been made possible, in part, by the New Jersey Council for the Arts/Department of State.

Tickets to the show are $20 standard; $16 for William Paterson University alumni, faculty and staff, and seniors; $8 for non-William Paterson students and children; and free admission for William Paterson students.
