Sheetal Ranjan, an assistant professor of sociology and a Bergen County resident, received the Women’s Initiative Award from Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan during a ceremony honoring local residents for their dedication to the growth of the Indian community.
The award was presented in recognition of Ranjan’s research and activism regarding violence against women. She is the project director of a grant-funded, three-year initiative that includes training and preventative education about domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking in university environments. Additionally, she serves on the Human Services Advisory Council of Bergen County.
