One of two William Paterson University teams participating in the 2011 Financial Planning Association (FPA) Competition in San Diego on September 14-17 placed second overall in the National Financial Planning Challenge and won $5,000 in scholarship money for the University.
The winning team representing William Paterson’s Cotsakos College of Business included Mike Walsh of Florham Park, Nick Bowman of Dumont, and Claudia Capilla of Cliffside Park.
William Paterson was the only university with two teams among the nine finalists selected to participate in the event. This is the second year in a row that William Paterson University students have placed in the competition, with last year's team winning first overall and earning $10,000 in scholarship money for the University.
The National Financial Planning Challenge is sponsored by Ameriprise Financial, the FPA, the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, and the Academy of Financial Services.
