Renowned Tenor and Stage Director to Present Master Class at William Paterson University in Wayne on October 13

Jacque Trussell, an internationally acclaimed American tenor who has performed with many of the world’s most prestigious opera companies and orchestras, will present a vocal master class for William Paterson University students and singers from the area on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. in Shea Center 101 on the William Paterson campus in Wayne. Admission is free.

Trussell has won accolades for his vocal performances throughout North America and Europe. His opera credits include performances with the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Covent Garden, Bastille of Paris, New York City Opera, and the Spoleto festivals of both the United States and Italy, among many others. He has also appeared with many of the world’s finest orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Concertgebouw Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, and Boston Symphony.

He made his debut directing The Tales of Hoffmann for the Sarasota Opera in 1996, and returned there the following year to produce the opera “Königskinder” by Humperdinck. He has directed operas in Russia, France, and at the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College of the State University of New York, where he has served as chair of opera performance/vocal studies since 1998. His recordings include Sounds and Sweet Airs: Scenes and Arias for Tenors, which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2001. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from Ball State University.
