Chris Carlo of Maplewood and Michael Zeoli of Waldwick, both communication majors at William Paterson University, were on the sidelines at Super Bowl XLVI as part of the New York Giants media production unit.

The two students are currently serving as media production interns with the New York Giants. Their supervisor is David Maltese ’93, who is in his 20th season with the New York Giants and ninth as video director. Also on the staff is Ed Triggs ’04, and Carmen Pizaano ’04, who serve as assistant video directors.

The media production unit oversees the filming of all games and practices throughout the season, and edits the video on a daily basis for the coaches, scouts, and front office personnel to evaluate. The game film that they and their staffs generate is also shipped to future opponents.

“This is a great testament to the quality of our students, their professionalism in a work environment, and the continued strength of our program,” says Liz Birge, chair of the communication department. “Professor John Rhodes deserves much of the credit for the work he does with our media production students in preparing them for opportunities such as these.”
