Summer 2012 Financial Aid Application!
Deadline - June 25, 2012
To be considered for summer financial aid, you must meet the following criteria:
- Have a processed 2011-2012 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file in the Financial Aid Office by June 25, 2012 as summer aid will be based on your 2011-2012 FAFSA. If you have not already completed a 2011-2012 FAFSA, you may do so at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
- Be enrolled half time for at least six (6) credits (for undergraduate students) or at least five (5) credits (for graduate students) by June 25, 2012. All students must maintain half time attendance to qualify for federal student loans.
- Be making financial aid satisfactory academic progress.
- Be enrolled in a matriculated program at William Paterson University.
- Have not exhausted funding eligibility for student loans and/or Pell Grant during the 2011-2012 Award Year.
- Complete the online 2012 Summer Financial Aid Application (see link below).
Pell eligible students who are registered for summer classes do not need to complete a summer application since the Financial Aid Office will be reviewing their Pell eligibility automatically.
Visiting students must contact their home institution to obtain summer aid.
Visiting students who have been admitted to WPU for the Fall 2012 semester, non-degree, less than half-time or those who have exhausted their federal aid may consider applying for an alternative student loan by access the Financial Aid homepage at www.wpunj.edu/financial-aid/ and clicking on Alternative Student Loans. However, please be advised that the NJCLASS private loan program requires a completed FAFSA among several other requirements. Alternative loans must be approved by June 25, 2012. These loans require a credit check and may take the lender up to 3 weeks to render a decision.
Students do not need to submit a Summer Financial Aid application to obtain an alternative loan.
Most responses will be issued within fourteen (14) business days. Access your WP Connect to view the status of your application and your awards.

Fall and spring semesters and summer session combined: August 15, 2011
Spring 2012 (including summer) semester Appeals will be accepted beginning September 16, 2011 and ending December 15, 2011. (CLOSED)

Attention: Fall 2012 Returning/Continuing Students!
- Submit your 2012-2013 FAFSA NOW (fafsa.ed.gov). WPU's Federal School Code is 002625
- WPUNJ Priority Filing Date Deadline is April 1st.
- The State of New Jersey deadline is June 1st for all renewal TAG recipients and October 1st for new TAG recipients.
- Check your WP Connect account for missing items. Submit any missing items to the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible and no later than June 1.
- Once your Spring 2012 final grades are available, your Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) will be evaluated.
- If your financial aid file is complete and your SAP is acceptable, you will be able to view your awards online starting June 25.

Family Education Right to Privacy Act
WPUNJ participates in the Family Education Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) for our student records policy. Please be aware that students would complete the FERPA Form to give permission to the University to speak with anyone other than the student. Perkins Loans
All William Paterson University Perkins Loan Borrowers must complete the following ONLY IF you have been offered a Perkins Loan in Your financial aid package:

If you are a first time Perkins Loan borrower at WPUNJ, please complete this step as well as completing the Perkins Master Promissory Note below. - Perkins Loan Promissory Note
Print, complete, and submit the Perkins Master Promissory Note to the Financial Aid Office. Should you have any questions contact Ms. Susan Rienstra in the Financial Aid Office at rienstras@wpunj.edu or 973-720-2925. Faxed copies cannot be accepted; original signatures are required.
Alternative student loans can be used if you have received the maximum in all other Programs. Less than half-time matriculated students and non-matriculated students who are in Academic Progress failure and/or are waiting for financial aid funding can apply for this type of loan. “Once you have completed the loan application from the lender, approved loans will take up to 15 business days or more for processing." All students who apply for an alternative loan after February 14, 2010 must complete the Private Education Loan Application Self Certification. This form must be submitted to your lender. Who Can Borrow?

- Permanent U. S. residents
- International students are eligible with a creditworthy cosigner (who must be citizen or permanent resident) and appropriate U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service documentation
- Non-matriculated students, only in special cases**
Prior to graduating or leaving school, Stafford Loan borrower's recipients must complete exit counseling. The Stafford Loan Exit Counseling will explain your rights and responsibilities as a Stafford Loan borrower. The Exit Counseling session will take about 30-40 minutes to complete.
