Refund Policy and Withdrawal from Housing

Important Refund Information

Cancellation of the housing contract by the student occupant must be submitted via the Residence Life Housing Portal.  Upon cancellation of this contract by the student occupant, the student occupant will forfeit his/her entire room application/damage fee, and will be subject to the refund policy as stated below.

If a student has already moved in to their assigned space, they are required to vacate University housing within 48 hours of submission of the housing cancellation, Academic Dismissal, enrollment drop for unpaid student account balances, and cease using the meal plan associated with the housing assignment.  Vacating after 48 hours of submission can affect your Official Date of Cancellation and refund amount/eligibility.

If a student is academically dismissed from the University, the student must withdraw from housing via the Housing Portal and the same refund schedule will apply.

Students will be held liable for room and meal plan/Pioneer Express charges and/or usage incurred beyond their last date of attendance.

Refunds of room charges are applied to student's account based upon the refund schedule. Withdraws from housing may affect a student's financial aid award. 

Housing Refund Schedule

Refunds for housing charges are determined by a percentage scale, determined by the Official Date of Cancellation.

Fall 2026 (Traditional Length and 9 Month Housing)
If your Official Date of Cancellation is... You are eligible for a refund of...
August 21st or earlier 100%*
Between August 22nd and September 2nd 90%
Between September 3rd and September 28th 50%
September 29th or later 0%

*100% refunds during Fall Semester are only avaialble for students who have not started occupancy. Students who begin occupancy are only eligible for a maximum 90% refund. 

Resident students who have a room assigned, and do not move into the assignment, can be charged a 10% cancellation fee.

Spring 2027 (Traditional Length)

Refund Rates for Spring 2027 will be determined before Spring 2027 charges begin posting in November.

Resident students from Fall Semester who do not move-in for the Spring and have not vacated the assignment are subject to a cancellation fee for occupancy of the space.

Spring 2027 (9 Month Housing)

Between January 1st and January 8th 90%
Between January 9th and February 7th 50%

Official Withdraw from Housing

A student must officially submit a request to withdraw from their Housing Contract through the Residence Life Housing Portal

Our posted housing refund policy applies to all cancellations. Cancellations occurring during a semester are subject to inspection of the vacated room for any damages.
