Internships and Careers

Internships are designed to connect your current educational program to your future as a successful professional. The courses of your college major lay a foundation in certain intellectual processes and information. We encourage you to apply that educational foundation in an internship experience! Your internship will provide you the opportunity to integrate all you are doing as a student with all you will want to do in your career.

You will find below links to some of the pre-professional opportunities and contacts for internships relating to your academic program. More internships are being established to support every student the opportunities to make this a part of your William Paterson University education within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

If you are interested in registering for the internship course, please see the process outlined below:

• Students are encouraged to meet with the Career Development Center to create/ revise their resume and cover letter.
• Students can either search and apply for internships on their own or set up an appointment to meet with me for assistance. To set up an appointment, please contact Mrs. Antonietta Bertino at BERTINOA1@WPUNJ.EDU.
• Students cannot register for the internship course if they do not have an internship secured. Interested students must apply at least one semester prior to enrollment in an academic course.
• Once you have secured the internship, please contact Dr. Tia Cherry at Cherryt3@wpunj.edu to receive the permit to register for the course.
• The student and site supervisor are responsible for the schedule.
• The student and site supervisor must complete the internship application and evaluations.
• The internship course includes: biweekly journal entries and assignments pertaining to the internship and the course does not meet in person.

Registration is right around the corner, so please consider an internship not just for credit, but to gain experience in the field and build your resume.

Student Success Center:

The Student Success Center is located in Atrium 263 and is a resource for students seeking internship and career assistance. The room is equipped with two computers, a printer, tables, chairs and resources for student use. Internship opportunities are posted regularly and the room is a quiet space for students to dedicate time to seeking these opportunities. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9am-4pm and is located next to the director's office and the office of the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
