Catering Guidelines

  • Potluck Social Events at WP
  • WP Dining Services – Aramark, is the only approved food service provider for the University.  We encourage members of the WP Community to purchase all food through WP Dining Services.

    Potluck Events - Events where homemade food is prepared off-campus, brought to campus, and then consumed among Faculty and/or Staff Members Only are restricted to a maximum of 25 individual participants. Potluck social food must not be distributed to the campus community or outside guests (those who are not members of the organization hosting the event).

    Homemade prepared food MUST adhere to the following Food Safety Requirements governed by the Wayne Department of Health:

    • Homemade prepared hot food MUST be brought up to an internal temperature of 165 degrees prior to serving and held in a chauffeur with a sterno(s).
    • Salads and Baked goods MUST be handled with serving utensils.

     Please be advised:

    • All potluck event requests must be presented to the Director of Dining Services for approval.
    • Campus departments that plan to serve homemade food on campus assume responsibility for introducing risk to individuals consuming food/beverages obtained under their direction. Campus departments are also responsible for ensuring products served have been properly cleaned, prepared, cooked, stored, served, and disposed of in accordance with health code and food safety guidelines.
    • Event hosts obtaining outside food further agree to abide by food safety practices.
    • Event hosts to provide all serving utensils including plates, napkins, and tablecloths. 
    • Event hosts are also responsible for disposal of all refuse.
