What is a Graduate Resident Director?

The Graduate Resident Director position is 10 month, live-on professional position serving the Office of Residence Life. The Graduate Resident Director supervises a staff of approximately 12-15 undergraduate staff including Resident Assistants, Desk Assistants and Office Assistants. This position will work 20 structured office hours per week as well as additional work hours in the evening and on weekends related to residence life on-call responsibilities and community development responsibilities. The Graduate Resident Director will report directly to an Area Coordinator and ultimately to the Director of Residence Life.

Who can be a Graduate Resident Director at WPU?

To be considered for the GRD position, candidates need to have the following:

  • Earned Bachelor’s degree and prior experience as an undergraduate within residence life, student activities, or another major functional area of student affairs
  • Full-Time continuous enrollment in graduate-level program; higher education administration, student personnel services, or counseling preparatory program preferred

Graduate Resident Directors are required to live on campus and are provided a fully-furnished one bedroom apartment and a partial meal plan.  GRD's also receive a $10,000 stipend, paid bi-weekly during their 10 month contract and a tuition waiver for 9 credits per semester for the fall and spring (18 total credits per academic year).
