Chamber Music Camp

The WP Music Chamber Music Summer Program is a six-day chamber music intensive program for outstanding high school instrumentalists looking to have fun, meet other area musicians, and expand their musical skills. It is taught by William Paterson University Music Department faculty and students. The focus of the program is learning and performing chamber music for woodwinds, brass, and percussion, and includes repertoire for small ensembles of like and mixed instrumentation of 2-20 players.

The summer program is led by Dr. Teresa Purcell Giles, Director of Bands/Assistant Professor of Music and Flute, with administrative assistance by Dr. Carol-Frierson-Campbell and Gideon Forbes. The project is supported by a grant from the Muna and Basem Hishmeh Foundation, which since the 2008 Academic Year has funded outreach from the WP music department to needy students in the WP region.

The program is free for students from the Bloomfield, Clifton, Newark, Orange, Passaic, Paterson, and Teaneck school districts. There is a $100 fee for students from other school districts.

The program will not run during summer 2025.
